Can you make custom sized frames?

The standard sizes we offer are 8x8”, 8x10”, 16x16”, and 16x20”. But since we’re a custom frame shop, we can really cut any size frame you’d like, as long as it’s 16x20” or smaller (we aren't set up to ship anything larger than 16x20".) Pricing for custom sizes falls into two size categories. Any frames that are 8x10” or smaller can be ordered through our 8x10” listing and will be priced the same. Any custom sizes larger than 8x10” will fall under our 16x20” pricing. For both, just be sure to leave a note in the personalization box so we know to cut your frame and mat(s) to a different size. If you have any questions about sizing, please feel free to reach out! We’re happy to help you choose the right size for your piece.

Can you add my photo inside the frame?

Technically, all of our frames are designed to easily open up so you can add your own photos. But if you have a photo you’d like us to print and add inside the frame for you, please send us a message! We can print 4x4", 4X6", and 5x7". (Please note: We outsource our photo printing, since we don’t have a printer in-house.) Sure! If you’d like to send us a physical photo to put inside your frame, we’re happy to do that. Just please reach out so we can share our address and know that it’s on its way. (Please note: We are not responsible for any photos that are lost or damaged in the mail.)

Unfortunately, our supplies go out of stock from time to time, and we’re reliant on our suppliers to provide a restock date. Sometimes it’s a quick turnaround; other times, it can be a long wait. When any of our items are out of stock, we’ll mark them as such in the listings. As we learn more about restock dates, we’ll communicate them the best we can! If there’s a particular frame color or fabric pattern you’d like to purchase that’s out of stock, you can always reach out to be added to our waitlist. Once it comes back in stock, we can let you know!

Where do your frames come from?

Our Monochromatic (Colorful) Frames, other than Fern Green, come from our moulding supplier in Chicago. The mouldings are made around the world, with our Monochromatic moulding made in Indonesia and shipped to us in 9-foot sticks. We cut and nail each frame in our shop in Ohio, which is why some mouldings are labeled “Made in Indonesia.” Our Fern Green and Dark Wood mouldings come from our Columbus, Ohio supplier. Fern Green is made there, while the Dark Wood moulding is made in Italy. Our two solid Red Oak Frames are sourced and made locally, right here in Ohio!

What are the dimensions of your frame moulidngs?

Monochromatic Frames Face: 7/8” Side: 7/8” Depth inside frame: 5/8” Dark Wood Frame Face: 1 1/8” Side: 7/8” Depth inside frame: 5/8” Vintage Oak Frame Face: 7/8” Side: 1” Depth inside frame: 1/2” Oak Cap Frame Face: 3/4” Side: 1” Depth inside frame: 3/4”

Where do your mats come from?

All of our mats are acid-free and sourced from our Columbus and Chicago suppliers. We use a few different brands with the intention of finding the best colors we can. Because we’re limited to the colors offered by those brands, we’ve chosen the closest matches we can to our Monochromatic Frames. They may not be a perfect match, but they’re as close as we can get with what’s available to us! Our suppliers sometimes add new colors to their collections, so we’re always keeping an eye out for better matches and will swap them as we find them. The mats are ordered in large sheets and cut down in our shop. We also use a mat-cutting machine to cut openings for your photos! Our fabric mats are made and wrapped in-house from sourced fabric!

How should I order a mat opening size for my photo and do you offer custom sizes?

Because we cut our own mats, we’re able to completely customize opening sizes. When you send us your exact image size, we cut an opening based on those dimensions. (Something to keep in mind: because of the mat cutting machine we use, the mat width on any side needs to be 3/4" or larger. Any margins smaller than that tend to throw off our machine or don't cut correctly.) We have three different opening options for you to choose from, explained below!

What's the difference between mounting styles?

No Opening: No opening is great if you would like to mount your image directly on top of the mat. There will be no opening cut, so it will be a solid sheet of matboard. Standard Opening: Includes either one or two mats. We cut the opening a little smaller than your image size so that your image can be taped to the back without falling through. The edges of your photo will be hidden by the edge of the mat. Double mats have a 1/4" reveal. Float Mount: Includes two mats. The bottom mat has no opening. The opening for the top mat is cut a little larger than your image size, allowing you to mount your photo in the center of the opening to make it look like it’s floating. It also allows you to see the image from edge to edge.

Looks great Love it Fast shipping

“This is my second time ordering one of these fortune cookie frames, I LOVE THEM. The frame itself is beautiful wood. And it’s clear the Frame Mavens put a lot of care into constructing it, I really appreciate the mounting bracket and the plastic knobbies on the back so it doesn’t get out of level once you’ve hung it. But my favorite part is the fabric mat. The colors are gorgeous and yet it doesn’t overpower the little fortune. It’s just enough zhuzh to make you wanna go up to it so you can check out the wisdom of Panda Express. These are very clearly luxury frames, but worth every penny!”
