Highlights

The Samurai snake plant, scientifically known as Dracaena hanningtonii, is a compact, slow growing succulent like plant in the snake plant family. Unlike the tall, upright leaves of the common snake plant, the Samurai variety has short, thick, sword shaped leaves that stack in a fan like pattern, giving it a very architectural and geometric appearance. The leaves are dark green with hard, leathery texture and usually edged with reddish-brown margins.

It is native to arid regions of Africa, which makes it highly drought tolerant and very low maintenance. The plant thrives with minimal care, prefers bright indirect light but can tolerate lower light, and needs infrequent watering since its thick leaves store moisture. Because of its size, toughness, and unique shape, it is often grown as an ornamental houseplant.
