Philodendron Brasil Live Plant, Variegated Heartleaf Trailing Vine

PHILODENDRON BRASIL
Philodendron hederaceum ‘Brasil’

CHARTREUSE RIBBONS THROUGH DEEP GREEN HEARTS

Philodendron Brasil is one of the most expressive forms of the classic heartleaf philodendron, prized for foliage that seems individually painted as it unfolds. Glossy, heart-shaped leaves carry ribbons and brushstrokes of lime, chartreuse, yellow-green and deep emerald, with no two leaves developing exactly alike.

The contrast can be delicate on one leaf and dramatic on the next. Some foliage opens with a bright central flare, while other leaves show softer streaking or broader bands of luminous color. As new growth matures, the vine develops a layered canopy of greens that gives the plant movement, depth and unmistakable character.

This is a true Philodendron rather than a Pothos, belonging to the Philodendron hederaceum group and carrying the graceful, supple growth habit that makes heartleaf philodendrons so elegant indoors. Young plants remain compact and leafy; established stems lengthen into beautiful trailing vines or can be encouraged upward on a support for a more architectural display.

A DESIGN-LED TROPICAL VINE

Allowed to trail, Brasil softens the edge of a shelf, bookcase or elevated planter with flowing foliage. Given a trellis, plank or moss pole, it can be guided upward so individual leaves become more visible and the plant develops a stronger vertical presence.

Its chartreuse patterning is especially striking beside darker aroids, burgundy foliage, warm wood and pale ceramics. The vivid color gives an established plant the presence of a variegated collector specimen while retaining the graceful silhouette of a classic tropical vine.

SELECT YOUR PLANT

Choose your preferred available size from the dropdown. Pot measurements refer to the nursery container rather than overall vine length or plant height; each selection represents the same cultivar at a different stage of development.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

One live, rooted Philodendron Brasil in the selected size, grown in its nursery pot with growing medium. Your plant will carry its own arrangement of leaves, branching, vine length and variegation, reflecting the naturally individual character of this cultivar.

CARE FOR BEAUTIFUL GROWTH

Light
Bright, indirect light supports vigorous growth and vivid variegation. A well-lit position helps preserve the contrast between the darker green tissue and the luminous chartreuse portions of the leaf. Protect the foliage from prolonged harsh direct sun.

Water
Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the growing medium begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain freely. Check the mix rather than relying on a fixed schedule. The roots appreciate consistent care without remaining continuously saturated.

Growing medium
An airy, well-draining houseplant or aroid mix supports healthy root development. Use a container with drainage and avoid allowing water to remain trapped around the root system.

Growth and shaping
Let the stems trail naturally or guide them onto a suitable support. Selective pruning can encourage branching and create a fuller silhouette. As the vine matures, new leaves continue to introduce fresh combinations of lime and green, making the display increasingly layered over time.

Placement
Warm indoor conditions suit Philodendron Brasil beautifully. Protect it from frost, cold drafts and abrupt temperature extremes, and give developing vines room to move naturally through the space.

ARRIVAL & ACCLIMATION

Unpack promptly and place your plant in bright, indirect light. Check the growing medium before watering and allow the plant time to settle into its new environment before repotting or making major care changes.

Philodendrons are not safe to ingest. Keep out of reach of pets and small children.
