Cardstock is more delicate and will wear over time with use. Handle gently and do not apply paint to the gel plate too thickly. The more delicate pieces will eventually tear. I use card stock masks and stencils almost exclusively in my printing process because I love the outline that is created when the ghost print is pulled. Once these have been through several uses, the outlines are less apparent.

More tips for cardstock stencils and masks:
• Allow them to dry overnight before stacking with other stencils so they don't stick together.
• Don't place it on a bare gel plate and roll paint over the top.Bare gel plates like to hold on to papers, making it difficult to peel them off. More delicate masks/stencils will easily tear this way. Instead, roll a THIN layer of paint on the plate and place the mask/stencil on top, then pull the print. This will help control the amount of paint applied to the card stock. If the paint is thick and wet, it will weaken the card stock.
• Take care when removing the mask/stencil after printing, especially if it is delicate or has thin shapes.
• Good news! As thin layers of paint build up on the card stock, it becomes stronger!
