General Care Instructions for the Items with Natural Cotton Filling

Cotton fillings are not meant to be washed. Machine washing can lead warping. If the fabric get stained, please use a damp cloth to wipe. Cover is always recommended to protect your item. It is most important to give your item time to air out to keep it dry.

Care Instructions for Futon Mattress

To keep your futon in the best hygienic conditions, please avoid the humidity. It is said we sweat at least one cup of water a night even in the cold season. Futon retains the moisture. Too much moisture can lead to mold and mites. It is most important to give your futon time to air out. Please fold up your futon mattress everyday. The best care is leaving the futon out in the direct sunlight for about 2 hours for each side when the sunlight is strong. If it’s difficult for you because of the living environment, hung the futon or lean it against something indoor where the futon can receive the sunlight as much as possible. *No beating *No washing *Wipe clean only *For storing long term, use the upper shelf to avoid humidity.

What size futon should I select?

All measurements in our shop refer to fabric sizes. This is a Japanese conventional way of measuring futon. Actual items get about 2 to 4 inches shorter and narrower when they are stuffed with cotton filling, depending the amount of the cotton filling. Please be careful and read the explanation on the each item page to select the size if you'd like to place our futon on your bed and make them fit. Thank you very much for understanding!

Since our futons are made to order, you can't cancel your order basically. For some items like we have plenty of stocks such as futon covers and zabuton covers, we might accept the cancellation. Please feel free to ask us.

If you'd like to avoid silk

We can use cotton thread for the bindings and tufts instead of silk thread on your request. Although cotton thread gets loose and untied easier than silk thread. Also, there is not many color variation. The color may be different from what you see in the item picture.

Q. Can I pick up my order when I visit Japan?
A. Yes you can. Please send us email for us to arrange it.

Q. Are they really chemical free?
A. Yes they are. We don't use any chemical materials such as insecticides, toxic solvents and flame retardants. We sterilize our cotton by heat.

Q. How does futon smell like?
A. We can't say it smells nothing. It subtly smells of the oil of cotton. It's difficult to describe what it is like. It'll be removed eventually in a couple of weeks. Most of the people don’t mind it but some people who is sensitive to smell might mind.

Q. How long does a futon last?
A. Futon (shiki futon) lasts for 3 years and futon quilt (kake futon) lasts for 5 years in general. They eventually lose the softness by being pressed by body.

This futon is incredible to sleep on. Shipping estimate was accurate and condition of the item upon delivery was satisfactory. The Plum pattern is beautiful and the stitching is exquisite. Rotating the futon, folding it up every day, and airing the futon out in the sun once a week keeps it fluffy and plush. There was a bedwetting accident early on, but a water rinse and sun bath and the damage was completely fixed. Will absolutely buy again. Craftsmanship at its finest.
