These are not just slip-ons.
The sole is water buffalo leather, 5 to 8 millimeters thick. It breathes, so your feet stay fresh from morning to evening.
Beneath your foot, a 100% copper rivet runs through the leather sole. With a leather sole and a copper rivet, there is no rubber or plastic between you and the ground. No gadget. No battery. Just leather and copper.
We solved a problem flat leather soles have always had: they slip. Rubber soles fix the grip but cut the contact with the ground. We hot-press a grip pattern directly into the leather sole. You get both: traction and a natural sole.
Every layer of this shoe is first-grade calfskin. The upper, the lining, the insole. No goat leather. No sheep leather. No low-grade splits. No belly cuts. Suede calfskin has a soft, velvety surface and a matte finish. It is gentle to the touch from the first wear and holds its texture over time.
The toe box is wide. The drop is zero. Toes spread. Foot lands flat.
Made to order. Hand stitched. Hand hammered. Production takes 4 to 5 days.
How does the copper rivet work?
The rivet runs through the leather sole, so on natural surfaces like grass, soil, stone, sand or concrete there is a direct contact point between you and the ground. On asphalt, rubber or synthetic surfaces it has no effect.
Is the sole grippy enough?
The hot-pressed pattern on the buffalo leather sole provides solid traction on most surfaces. The grip improves further after a few days of wear.
Can I wear these without socks?
Yes. The calfskin lining breathes directly against your foot. These shoes are designed for barefoot wear.
Will the heel slip?
Each pair is made to your foot length, so the heel sits close. They feel snug for the first days, then mold to your foot.
Can I wear these in rain?
No. Leather is water permeable. These are not suitable for wet conditions. If they get wet, wear them while still damp to prevent shrinkage. Wipe clean with a damp cloth when dirty. Apply almond oil occasionally to condition the leather.
What about sizing?
Place your foot on a piece of paper. Mark the heel and the tip of your longest toe. Measure the distance in centimeters. Write it in the personalization box. We match your measurement to the closest last; our lasts are 8 millimeters apart.
Do you accommodate wide feet?
Yes. The wide toe box gives room for wide feet. If you have specific needs, add a note to your order.
Is this a good gift?
Yes. Order his usual size. After you order, we message you to confirm his foot length before we cut the leather.
How long do these shoes last?
With normal use, more than 2 years. The leather improves with wear.
What about returns and exchanges?
If you receive the wrong size, wrong color, or wrong model, contact us. We will produce the correct pair and ship it to you at no extra cost. All return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
Shipping & Duties
We ship with DHL Express and UPS from Gaziantep, Turkey. Your order arrives in the United States in 5 to 6 days. Larger sizes use more leather and buffalo sole, so the price steps up slightly by size. Free express shipping to the US, UK, EU and Canada; for the US, UK and EU, import taxes are paid at checkout, so there is nothing to pay at your door.
Our Atelier
This workshop has been making yemeni shoes in Gaziantep since the 1950s. Seven hundred years of tradition, still alive in the same city, still made by hand. We carry our own leather stock. Same quality, every order. Around 30 people, approximately 100 pairs per day, one at a time.
Some people get it. Some don't. Both are fine.
