~ A gorgeous wonderful rarer find in vintage high end French furnishings fabric.
A quality trade only textile hand printed by the prestigious Prelle company, dated 1987.
Beautiful colors in the realm of early chintz colors on a mustardy yellow ground. Very alive & joyful design.
my more vivid photos are closest to the lovely palette.
This is an interiors cotton but the design is based on a Portuguese chintz design from the 1860’s.
The 19th century Portuguese original called “Wacky Bird” is in the Cooper Hewitt Museum collection. An example of Portuguese chintz designs from the 19th century.
There is a good bit of information online about this marvelous historical design.
This one is called “Les Perroquetes”.
Thrilled to have sourced in a good amount of unused yardage of this incredible textile.
In very nice condition. It was folded & boxed for many years so may just need to relax or a fresh press/steam.
Excellent in any bespoke project. Fantastic collectors piece as well.
