Introduction
Chocolate Cherry Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a stunning variety that stands out with its rich, dark burgundy-red petals and deep chocolate-brown centers. Growing up to 6 feet tall, these sunflowers create a dramatic contrast in garden beds, borders, and flower arrangements. Their branching habit produces multiple blooms per plant, offering long-lasting color throughout the summer. Loved by pollinators, Chocolate Cherry Sunflowers attract bees and butterflies while also making excellent cut flowers for fresh bouquets.

Seed Sowing Instructions
Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost when the soil has warmed to at least 60°F. Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep and 6–12 inches apart in well-drained soil under full sun. For earlier blooms, start seeds indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost date and transplant carefully once seedlings are sturdy. Germination typically occurs in 7–10 days. Thin or transplant young plants to allow adequate space for air circulation and strong growth.

Plant Care Instructions
Sunflowers thrive in full sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly during early growth, but reduce watering once plants are established to encourage deep roots. Avoid overfertilizing, as it can lead to weaker stems. Provide light staking if exposed to strong winds. Regular deadheading encourages prolonged blooming, or let some flowers mature for seed harvesting or to feed local birds.
