🖤During the 19th century, mourning accessories became increasingly popular, reaching its peak with the death of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1861. His heartbroken wife, Queen Victoria, made mourning items popular. Creating more and more customs in the tribute to the deceased, time of mourning, color and material of clothing to be worn. Mourning became a very important topic during the Victorian era.
The use of mourning jewelry and accessories, such as jet beads jewelry, braided hair, crepe veils, mourning bonnet became objects of everyday life.


🖤This hat / bonnet is a replica of a 1870s - 1880s (almost 1890s) mourning bonnet.
Made out of black antique French lace, black satin lining, ornated with black artificial flowers, satin ribbon and an antique feather.


🖤The hat has been totally handstitched and the construction has been totally made by myself.


🖤Made in one size, this bonnet is made to be worn on the top or back of the head, It will be attached to your head with small hidden
interior combs.
