The Hook Tool:
The hook tool was specifically designed for craftspeople. Its curved edge excels in crafting concave cuts, making it ideal for sculpting spoons and bowls. Manufactured from stainless steel, the edges have good edge retention. The barrel-shaped handles are easily gripped and have been sanded and oiled with natural mineral oils. An excellent introductory hook tool, built to last through countless projects.

The Carving Tool:
One of the best all-around carving tools; the narrow edge is perfect for accessing tight areas and making tight turns. This tool is also manufactured from stainless steel and includes the same barrel-shaped handle. Again, this is an excellent introductory carving tool.

Leather Strop & Polishing Compound:
A well-maintained edge is essential for carving; it makes the process more efficient and enjoyable. A poorly maintained edge also demands extra force, reducing control during carving. The leather strop and polishing compound are used to refine and maintain your tool’s edge. The polishing compound is a fine paste that can be applied to the strop for better results. We make the strops from genuine cowhide leather offcuts.

Spoon Blanks & Leather Thimbles:
The spoon blanks are crafted from a variety of wood types including English Cherry, Poplar/Tulip, Pine, and Spruce. They deliberately follow a rough shape to allow for ample practice in shaping the handles. We have also included two leather thimbles for your index and thumb fingers. The leather is flexible and will accommodate most finger sizes.

Honing Accessories:
We've included three different grades of sandpaper and a wooden dowel for maintaining the hook tool. Additionally, a compact synthetic diamond honing stone is also included for the carving tool.

Tool Care:
The tools come pre-honed and ready to use. Although we recommend a little extra honing before use for best results. The tools are easily maintained with most regular edge-care tools. If you have any care questions, we are happy to help.

Instructions & Box
All of the components are neatly packed into a card box. Detailed instructions on kraft cards are also included with how-to video links using the components of the kit. Remember, practice makes perfect! Don’t get discouraged if you find it challenging at first. With time and patience, you’ll improve your whittling skills and create beautiful spoons.
