Tell us a bit more about Making Meadows?

Making Meadows was founded back in 2019 by Samantha Marando. We specialise in unique letter writing paper, beautiful stationery gifts, greeting cards and wrapping paper. Everything is designed and made from our small countryside studio based in Surrey. We love that everything is made in the UK with care and attention. Your orders get packed up from our studio by our team of amazing packers. Wrapped in tissue paper, they are a delight to open! Our aim is to create beautiful, high quality products that make you smile & are also eco friendly to the world. Because that’s important to us. Often focusing on flora and fauna each product often starts with a painting. We think this gives our products a unique and extra special feel to them.

Why did you set up Making Meadows?

Samantha has a background in illustration. Having studied at university, she then went on to become a greeting card designer, followed by a product designer. Her speciality was painting and could often be found at the end of a paint brush. She loved both of these jobs and learnt so much invaluable experience! After a few years as a design manager, managing a team of creatives she decided it was time to try & make her dream of owning her own company a reality. With many years experience in the industry, starting a company came naturally to her & from that Making Meadows has grown steadily. She is excited for the future and can't wait to see how Making Meadows evolves.

Tell us about what you do for the planet?

Being an eco-friendly business is very important to us. We believe that being sustainable is a journey that is always evolving and we always look for ways to improve. However, this is what we currently do: All of our writing paper and wrapping paper is printed onto FSC certified paper. That means that it is responsibly sourced paper. All of out products are paper based which means they are 100% recyclable. We don't ever pack our products into plastic. We print in small batches or on demand. This means that we can keep track of our waste, our recycling and lower our carbon footprint. We outsource a few of our products due to us not being experts at everything (yet), but we always try to source from local or UK based companies.
