This charming antique French textile fragment dates from around 1810 and was once part of a quilted coverlet. The fabric is a light cotton, hand block printed in a delicate brown floral sprig pattern on a pale ground. The design is refined and elegant — a beautiful example of early 19th-century French textile printing that was popular in both provincial and Parisian interiors of the Empire period.

The small holes visible across the surface are from the original quilting stitches, where the needle once held layers of fabric and batting together. It appears to have once had a stripe, that has all but faded ~ These subtle traces are part of its long history and make it a truly special document of early textile artistry. Perfect for framing, study, or use in a historical or design reference collection.

MEASUREMENTS:
This textile measures approximately 28 inches long by 14 inches wide ~

CONDITION:
This historical textile document is in as found condition, with gentle signs of time and use including faint marks and tiny needle holes from the original quilting. These condition “flaws” are an essential part of each antique textile—they tell the story of a life well-lived, cherished by many before us, and add to its unique charm and authenticity.
