Antique Leather Sewing Case with Sewing and other Tools 25 x 17 x 3 cm

A delightful antique burgundy coloured leather covered sewing case. It's lined inside with dark purple velvet with ruched satin and button detail and cord, and closes with pretty etched brass clasps.

It has the following tools which were inside it when I bought it:
Three packets of needles-probably too degraded to use.
A button hook, a stiletto, a nail file and a penknife-I can't tell what the handles are made of-the penknife is bone and the others are either bone or an early plastic.

To these I have added:
An Abel Morrall thimble,
A bone crochet hook,
A pretty pair of scissors, and
A metal needle case.

There are still some empty spaces in the case for you to add your own finds.

It does have some condition issues as you will see in the photos: the leather is bumped and rubbed and the box doesn't close correctly-it looks as if the lid now extends too far over the base for some reason-thought the hinges at the back look good. The elastic on one side of the upper case is broken, and there are a couple of stains on the light coloured fabric. The steel tip of the stiletto is slightly bent at the tip as they so often are.

A lovely piece, it measures 25 x 17 x 3 cm at it's widest and deepest.
