Antique Gold Lamé Liturgical Cope – Catholic Vestment with Pelican appliqué, Ecclesiastical Antique

Antique liturgical cope in gold lamé, a striking ceremonial vestment used in Catholic rituals and processions sourced in France. There is an applique representing the pelican feeding its young at the back.
From the late 19th or early 20th century.
It is beautiful but it has been used and is very worn and stained.
The pelican is surrounded by a halo made of gold metallic threads and sequins. It has several imperfections, pulled threads and is getting unstitched in places. There are some broken threads on the pelican and halo and gaps are visible. The card under the metallic thread is sometimes broken and visible on the halo and pelican.
The cope fastens with two hooks and four loops at the front (two different sets of two loops).
The gold material is stained. Some green stains are visible on both sides.
There are larger dark stains and several small white stains too.
Some stains are visible in the close-up photographs taken inside but the green is more vibrant in real life than on the pictures.
The two pictures at the end taken outside show the staining better.
The gold trim has darkened and is worn because of use, especially at the collar and on the chest. There is some slight fraying.
The gold material has darkened at the top too. The colour is also darker at the bottom as the material was against the floor. Signs of wear at the bottom because of heavy use. Small spots, imperfections and repairs.
Gold metallic fringes have imperfections. Some are pulled or missing.
The lining has faded and discoloured in places. The fabric is also very worn and a bit damaged at the back towards the bottom (a different material is used there). Several little stains and holes.
Hand stitches visible on the whole cope. Some stitches are getting undone.
Length down the back approx. 136 cm / 53.54 inches

- I aim to post everything in 3 working days. Everything is sent with a tracking number.
Parcels will require a signature at the time of delivery.

- I will only ship to the address provided during checkout. I won't post to an address sent in a separate message after a purchase.

- A part of the shipping price includes recycling taxes and packaging material.
Everything is packaged safely sometimes using recycled materials.

- I can’t predict how long Customs may hold on to items for inspection.

- I am happy to combine postage on multiple purchases - just ask beforehand!

- If a parcel arrives damaged, it is the buyer's responsibility to file a complaint immediately with the delivery service. Any insurance is void unless this is done at delivery time!


RETURNS AND REFUNDS

- I accept returns only if the buyer contacts me within 2 weeks of delivery. Only the item price can be refunded. Postage costs will not be refunded.
If a returned item is received damaged the loss in value will be deducted.
