Highlights
This one-of-a-kind decorative plate is hand-thrown and glazed in Horezu, Romania—home to a UNESCO-recognized ceramic tradition. Its rich, indigo-blue glaze is adorned with a concentric spiral at the center, radiating outward in deliberate hand-carved rings—an ancient symbol of continuity, life force, and inward reflection found in Romanian folk art.
Surrounding the spiral, a detailed laurel leaf garland evokes themes of renewal and resilience, framed by a ring of sun-like zigzags, and bordered with repeating wheat-sheaf or fir tree motifs, emblematic of fertility, protection, and rooted in Romanian visual language.
Each etched detail is filled by hand with white slip, creating a striking contrast against the deep cobalt glaze. The plate is slightly domed with a gently raised rim, ideal for hanging as wall art.
Diameter: approx. 9.75 inches (~25 cm)
Material: Local Horezu clay, glazed and fired.
Back signed: By the artist, TAMBREA
Use: For display only (wall hook not included)
Due to the handmade nature, each plate carries subtle variations—imperfections that make it unmistakably human.
