Paragon Harry Wheatcroft “Six World Famous Roses” 16-Piece Coffee Set – England c.1950s–60s –Excellent Condition

Description

A beautiful vintage Paragon fine bone china Coffee Set from the beloved “Six World Famous Roses” collection, created in partnership with the legendary rose specialist Harry Wheatcroft (1898–1977).

Crafted in the 1950s–1960s, this charming set highlights six iconic rose varieties from Wheatcroft’s celebrated catalogue— Grand Gala, Rendezvous, Peace, Prelude, Mme. CH Sauvage, and Virgo. Each coffee cup and saucer showcases a different rose illustration, paired with a softly tinted pastel interior — including lemon yellow, sky blue, mint green, soft pink, peach, and cream. The elegant 22ct gold detailing on the rims, handles, and bases adds a refined finishing touch typical of Paragon’s finest work.

The set also includes a beautifully shaped coffee pot, milk jug, sugar bowl, and cake plate, each decorated with matching World Famous Roses motifs. Together, these pieces form a complete and cohesive service that perfectly captures Paragon’s mid-century artistry.

This is one of Paragon’s most iconic mid-century floral series, cherished for its rich colours, quality bone china, and Royal Warrant mark.

About the Maker

Paragon China Co. Ltd. was founded in 1903 in Longton, Staffordshire, and quickly became one of England’s most prestigious bone china manufacturers. Renowned for its craftsmanship and vivid floral designs, Paragon earned the Royal Warrant “By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen”, as well as an earlier warrant granted by Queen Mary — a distinction often referred to as the “Double Royal” certification, signifying Paragon’s exceptional quality and service to both monarchs.

This recognition established Paragon as a favourite supplier to the Royal Household. Pieces bearing these marks symbolise excellence in design, durability, and artistry — qualities clearly reflected in this Six World Famous Roses series.

The collaboration with Harry Wheatcroft, known as “The Rose King”, resulted in this beloved Six World Famous Roses series — now one of Paragon’s most sought-after designs.
