I have really missing having Royal sandalwood essential oil in our collection. I was one of the early sellers of this beautiful oil and when the price skyrocketed four fold a few years back, I couldn’t buy the minimum kilogram requirement. It was completely out of the budget for an apothecary resurrecting itself after a big move from another country. Now, six years in and the support of over sixty five hundred happy scent chasers, I am gratefully back in business with this beloved sandalwood from Hawaii. I really love this sandalwood. It reminds me of sandalwood I bought as a kid in the 1980s back when sandalwood was in everybody’s budget. The oil has truly underrated soft santal notes that are about as perfect a sandalwood in a perfume composition as Mysore. At the risk of sounding a little nostalgic, I feel Royal sandalwood smells better than I remember which could be because of better distillation techniques and access to older trees. It’s a masterfully quiet backbone in dilution and holds on a scent strip for an extended period of time. I’m truly excited for the return of this spiritual oil from the land of plumeria and hula.
