This is a fantastic example of a turn-of-the-century American trade tool by the Peck, Stow & Wilcox Co. (P.S. & W. Co.). Known for their high-quality hardware, this Southington, Connecticut manufacturer is a favorite among tool collectors, and this scale features their iconic Star logo proudly stamped on the face.
The scale features a flat brass faceplate with a rich, golden patina, contrasting beautifully against the heavy iron backing and hand-forged style hook. The maker's mark "P.S. & W. Co." is rendered in an elaborate script that is often mistaken for "B & W," but the accompanying Star trademark confirms its prestigious lineage. With a 25-lb capacity, this piece is the perfect size for a rustic kitchen display, industrial shelf, or antique tool collection.
