Offered is a handsome late-19th-century hanging spring scale featuring a brass faceplate and iron body, complete with its original top suspension ring and bottom hook. This classic utilitarian form was common on farms, in general stores, and for weighing game or produce. The warm brass panel shows deeply struck, easy-to-read graduations, while the iron casing retains an appealing timeworn patina. The interior spring mechanism still moves when tension is applied, and the pointer travels across the scale window as intended.
