Discover our 240gsm Lokta paper, a handcrafted treasure from the mountains of Nepal. Known for its unique texture and exceptional durability, this paper is handmade from the bark fibers of the renewable and sustainable Lokta tree.

Lokta grows at altitudes between 2000 and 3500 meters, and its bark has the unique ability to regenerate completely 5 to 8 years after harvesting. Therefore, no cutting is required to make Lokta paper.

The ecological balance is thus maintained while providing economic activity to the populations of the Nepalese mountains.

The bark fibers are boiled for several hours to soften them and remove impurities.
The softened fibers are then beaten by hand or with a mallet to create a homogeneous pulp.
The pulp is poured into a wooden frame covered with a fine mesh. This frame is shaken to distribute the pulp evenly, then submerged in water and drained.
The frame is then left to dry in the sun. Once dry, the paper is removed from the frame.
The Lokta paper sheets are then pressed to obtain a smooth, ready-to-use surface. They can also be dyed with natural dyes or decorated as needed.
This artisanal and ancestral process respects traditional methods and uses local resources, which contributes to the sustainability and authenticity of Lokta paper.
