Seller's description

Marbro Japanese porcelain lamp pink lotus floral craquelure glaze vintage Asian export brass base 29 inch tall chinoiserie lamp

Lamp comes with standard harp and coordinated finial. Shade is not included. If you purchase the lamp I will provide a deep discount on a shade.

This is a Marbro Lamp Company piece (Los Angeles, circa 1965–1975), assembled using a Japanese porcelain blank likely produced in the Seto/Nagoya kiln region, then decorated in Hong Kong with hand-enameled lotus panels. The porcelain features a characteristic soft rose craquelure glaze, alternating vertical reserves, and finely shaded lotus blossoms.

The lamp sits on a heavy cast brass Marbro-style base with cut-out feet and retains an original mid-century Leviton socket, both consistent with Marbro hardware used between the mid-60s and early 70s. Total height is approximately 29 inches.

Marbro was one of the premier high-end U.S. lamp houses of the mid-20th century, assembling imported Asian porcelain onto custom brass mounts for luxury retailers. In the 1960s–70s, Marbro sourced blanks from Japanese Seto–Nagoya kilns, where craquelure pastel glazes and lotus motifs were popular export styles. These blanks were often shipped to Hong Kong for enamel detailing before arriving in the U.S. for final assembly.

The lamp represents a textbook example of this international production pipeline, combining Japanese craftsmanship, Hong Kong decorative work, and Marbro’s American luxury finishing—highly desirable in today’s Hollywood Regency and Chinoiserie interiors.
