Seller's description

Antique Ironstone Sauce Tureen/ With Lid and Under Plate/J. Wedgwood/Pearl Ironstone China/Mid 19th Century/England/Farmhouse Decor

This is a very nice antique ironstone sauce tureen complete with its lid and under plate. It was made by J.Wedgwood during the mid 19th century. It features an acanthus rosette finial and lovely decorative handles. The under plate also has decorative handles. As you can see in the photos the tureen (with lid) and under plate have aged differently. There is a slight difference in coloring. I believe the pieces were separated in the home. One being in the daylight more than the other thus causing one to chage color differently. They are mates because they each show the same markings on the bottom. They perhaps came back together when the house hold was cleared out. One can only imagine the elegant dinner parties they attended. The condition is quite good. The sauce tureen show only a small line inside. This line does not show on the outside. See photo #15. There are a few tiny fleabites and one small chip on the bottom of the sauce tureen as you can see in photo #14. The lid shows no damage. The under plate shows no major cracks or chips. On the bottom where it is marked you will see older tape. Along the way, perhaps the owners used it to secure pertinent information about the piece which unfortunately is no longer there. All in all this is a very nice 3 piece set ready to be used again or place in your home with your ironstone collection.

Measurements
Height of 3 pieces: From the top of finial to the base of under plate: 8 inches
Width of Sauce Tureen only: 7 inches
Width With under plate : 8.25 inches

This is for the sale of the 3 piece ironstone sauce tureen with lid and under plate only. No props included. Thanks for understanding.
