Are your matchboxes printed directly or labelled?

All designs are printed directly onto premium paper; we never use adhesive stickers or pre-made labels. Each order is made to order and individually finished by our studio using premium papers, precise direct printing and carefully selected components for a refined, durable result.

Can I provide artwork, and who owns the designs?

Yes, provided that you own the supplied artwork or have written permission to use it. High-resolution PNG, PDF, AI or SVG files are preferred. Unless a separate written transfer or commercial licence is agreed, original concepts, layouts, illustrations, mock-ups, proofs, photographs and design elements created by The Matches London remain our intellectual property. Purchasing a product does not transfer copyright or permit copying, tracing, manufacturing, resale or commercial use. Unauthorised use may be documented and reported to Etsy, marketplaces, hosting providers and relevant enforcement channels.

Do you offer rush production and premium finishes?

Rush production may be available depending on quantity, design complexity, destination and current capacity. A paid express courier upgrade can provide estimated transit of approximately 2 business days within the UK and 3 business days to the US after dispatch, but it must be confirmed with us in writing before ordering. These estimates do not include design approval, production or customs processing. Foil, embossing, debossing, letterpress, textured papers and custom dimensions require separate planning and pricing; embossed and debossed orders generally require at least eight weeks.

Can I cancel, and what happens after the proof is sent?

Custom orders cannot be cancelled once design or material preparation has begun. We send a digital proof through Etsy Messages and offer unlimited reasonable revisions before final approval. Buyers must check all names, dates, spelling, colours, dimensions and artwork. If we receive no reply within 48 hours of the latest proof, it will be treated as approved and may enter production. Changes after approval or the 48-hour period may cost extra or may not be possible. This does not affect statutory rights for goods that are faulty or not as described.

Do you ship worldwide, and who handles customs?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Filled matches may face customs restrictions in Greece, so please contact us before ordering for delivery to Greece. Shipping to other destinations is available subject to carrier service and local regulations. Courier transit begins after design approval and production. Delivery dates are guaranteed only when confirmed in writing. Buyers must provide a correct address, monitor tracking, respond to courier or customs requests, accept delivery and pay duties not collected at checkout. Delays outside our reasonable control may affect delivery. Legal and Etsy protections remain unaffected.

How are print colours approved?

For colour-critical orders, the buyer must provide exact CMYK values. Without CMYK references, we reproduce the closest achievable colour from the supplied artwork or screen reference. Screens, paper texture, ink absorption, lighting and finishing methods can affect colour appearance. Small variations are normal and are not defects. Please raise any critical colour requirement before approving the proof.

Can you make a completely custom size or design?

Yes. We can create fully bespoke artwork, dimensions and proportions, including small and large matchboxes, matchbooks, custom inner trays, venue illustrations, pet portraits, monograms, logos and coordinated event stationery. Custom dimensions and specialist construction may require a minimum quantity and a separate quotation. Contact us before ordering with the required size, quantity, deadline and destination.
