Vintage RIDGID 10" heavy duty pipe wrench – worn red patina USA made plumbing wrench

Vintage 10-inch RIDGID heavy duty straight pipe wrench with a lot of honest shop wear and red paint patina. This one still works exactly like it should: jaws bite well, adjustment is smooth, and the casting is sound. I cleaned, oiled, and waxed it so it’s ready to go back to work or hang as a great-looking piece of industrial decor.

• Length: approx. 10 in overall
• Era: likely 1990s production

Condition
• 100% functional – adjuster turns freely through its full range and the hook jaw tracks straight.
• Teeth have normal wear but still have strong bite for real use. Close-up photos show the actual tooth condition.
• Original red paint is heavily worn with darker gray/black patina showing through and a few traces of old overpaint that were blended back.
• Casting is solid with no cracks, repairs, or bent handle.
• Overall look is “working wrench with decades of use,” not cleaned to look new.

Restoration work performed
• Disassembled for inspection and cleaning.
• Old grime and loose rust removed while preserving the remaining red paint and patina.
• Previous green overpaint was carefully lifted with solvent so the RIDGID markings and original red show again.
• Metal surfaces wiped down and given a thin coat of mineral oil, then paste wax for a dry protective finish.
• Moving parts (threads, jaw slide, spring/pin) lubricated with Hoppes oil and cycled until smooth.
• Final wipe so the wrench feels dry in hand, not oily.

How to use & care
• Handy size for household plumbing and general shop work, or as a prop on a shelf or wall rack.
• After use, wipe dry and add a drop of light oil on the threads if you live in a humid area.
• Store indoors to keep the patina stable.
