• Stone origin: USA; east of Silver City New Mexico. Hand picked, sourced from an old collection, in-person at the Quartzsite Gem Show. Polished by us in-house!
• Real, natural color, stabilized turquoise from the Tyrone Mine
• Each averages 1cm-1.25cm at its largest. The perfect size close to a traditional shirt stud button - still stand out, but not overpower. See US Penny for scale.
• Reverse attachment point tot he hardware is coated in jeweler's cement/resin to act as a "bumper" to prevent damage while wearing or if dropped. Gravity happens!
• Handmade and each set is unique and one of a kind - no two stones are ever the same

► QUANTITY?
Most tux shirts use 3 or 4 studs. Big and tall sizes usually use 5. Select whatever count you need!

►ABOUT THE STONES:
The Tyrone mine produced great quantities of hard, deep and bright blue turquoise as well as pale spring green turquoise. Turquoise from this mine is highly collectible. The Tyrone mine hasn't produced turquoise since the 1980s, when the owners switched their method of copper mining to a kind that crushes and acid washes the stone which destroys the surrounding turquoise. As with many turquoise mines, its original purpose was for copper mining. Turquoise is usually a secondary mineral of a copper mine.

Turquoise has been used in jewelry nearly as long as it’s been known to humanity. Turquoise is also used as a ceremonial or decorative stone, a practice dating back to ancient times. It’s been used in Native American crafts and jewelry for centuries. It was sacred to many tribes, including the Apache, Navajo, Pueblo, and Zuni. For couples honoring 11 years together, turquoise stones create a sense of calm and wonder.

► OTHER STONES?
Yes! Our shirt studs can be customized to nearly any stone we stock, as long as we have the stone or can cut the stone to the correct size to fit the stud hardware. Other that look great are freshwater pearls, ruby and sapphire hexagon slices, raw opals, raw emeralds, topaz, even tiny ammonites! Please just ask and we can make it happen! Some stones may be more costly depending on grade and amount of additional lapidary work required for sizing, and some a little less, but these little turquoise nuggets are a good starting point.

All our accessories are handmade with natural stones; they're gifts from the Earth, and all vary between specimen to specimen. Each set is unique and one of a kind, and no two stones will ever be the same, that's a big part of the joy and fun of them! If your heart is set on the certain look of a stone shown, please contact us for specific stone size/shape and color requests before purchasing (not after!) - these photos are just an example of many many we have in stock and I make almost daily for you. We can't Glamour Shot style photograph each set individually and still offer them at this price.

►ABOUT THE MAKER:
Each is unique and one of a kind, and made by hand by printmaker, metalworking artist and Cyberoptix founder, Bethany Shorb. I work between my home base in Detroit, MI and a mobile RV studio Arizona, where I source all our stone, crystal, shell and fossil specimens there and at the Tucson and Quartzsite AZ gem shows. All are intuitively sourced in person, from only the most reputable individual suppliers.
