“Beautiful scarf, great quality and exactly as described. There was a small delay and some confusion about the delivery, but the seller was helpful and did their best to resolve the issue. I am very pleased with the scarf and would recommend this shop.”

Seller's description

Specifications

May include: Close-up of soft, textured fabric in shades of blue and off-white. The fabric has a subtle herringbone pattern. The image shows the texture and drape of the material, suggesting it could be a scarf or shawl.

When a bamboo flute calls the morning across the hills of Nepal and the mist draws slanting white bands through the blue valley – this is the sound Venuh carries within.

Venuh (वेनुह) comes from the Sanskrit वेणुः, the flute, cut from bamboo since time immemorial. In Nepal its sound follows the herders along the ridges long before the day gives the colours back. Those are exactly the two colours of this scarf: a muted denim blue like the valley at dusk, and a warm cream white like the mist above it. And like the notches in a bamboo cane, a herringbone pattern runs at an angle through the weave – row by row the diagonal tips over and throws the light first to one side, then to the other.

✦ Handwoven on the loom

This scarf is woven by hand, row by row, on a 14-gauge loom. The herringbone is created in the binding itself – the diagonal changes direction at regular intervals and gives the cloth its fine zigzag texture. Both colours run in the same piece, without a seam. The edges run open, the fringes are kept short and deliberately free of heavy knots. Small irregularities in texture and colour are not flaws but the signature of the loom and of a natural material.

❋ Material

80% cashmere wool with 20% sheep wool, spun 2-ply, 14 gauge. Around 75 g light at 72 × 203 cm – a weight you barely notice. The scarf is fully reversible – there is no wrong side.

✧ How to wear it

Draped once around the neck, the ends falling in front — the quickest way out the door. Looped twice it becomes a soft collar for cooler days. Over one shoulder it works as a stole with a dress, open across both shoulders as a light wrap for the evening.

✍ Personalized on request

We add a name, text or initials to your scarf: either embroidered (in various colours) or printed on a small label. A saying or a special word works too — a truly personal gift.

🏔 Handmade in Nepal

Woven in a small workshop in Nepal by women who are paid fairly and work in good conditions. We know the workshop this scarf came from. The keeping of the cashmere goats and the treatment of the animals matter to us as well.

✚ Authenticity with a digital twin

This scarf is NPIA-certified and has a digital twin. You receive the certificate number together with your scarf. Origin and material composition can be verified online at any time – authenticity that isn't merely claimed.
