A mid-length African ethnic necklace with a stunning square enameled copper pendant. This pendant is a Valérie creation, a reproduction of one of my paintings, "Young Maasai Woman," a colorful portrait of a young woman in profile, a modern painting. This necklace is composed of a collection of authentic handcrafted African beads. An easy-to-wear ethnic touch for sunny days and summer outfits.
Koffi round beads: these are vintage Bakelite beads, a precursor to plastic, which was used to make things like our black telephones. This type of bead is becoming rare because it is no longer manufactured. Bakelite was the first plastic material discovered in 1909 by Leo Baekeland, a Belgian chemist who became a naturalized American citizen, known for his research in photography and plastics.

- 4 elongated black terracotta beads from Mali, black and white, 28x13 mm, Technique: entirely handmade from natural clay, each bead is unique.
