Highlights
This is a hand-finished sculpture of the gothic scholar figure set into the wall of the York Street gate of Davenport College at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
It is real reconstituted limestone cast over a solid and very heavy stone, mortar and limestone core with a felt bottom. I shaped the limestone by hand. I made this so you can display it two different ways: flat on a desktop, or hanging on a wall.
My intent was to achieve the exact look and feel of the original carved stone, even upon close inspection. It is indistinguishable from the original by touch, color and patina.
It is about seven inches long and weighs 692 grams, or about 1.5 lbs. It took me about a month to design and make.
Made in the USA by me, a Davenport alum who passed through that gate for four years.
You may return it if you’re not happy.
