Is every leather case truly handmade?

Yes — from selecting the hide to the final stitch, every step is done by hand in my Los Angeles studio. I don’t outsource or use factory molds. I cut, carve, groove, burnish, and stitch each piece myself using traditional leatherworking techniques. This process takes time, but it ensures every case is a unique, lasting piece of craftsmanship — not just a product.

What should I know about the fit, scent, and care of my leather case?

Every Mr.Sun Handcraft case is designed for a snug, form-fitting experience — similar to breaking in a good pair of leather shoes. In the beginning, it may feel tight, but the natural leather will soften slightly with time and form perfectly around your AirPods. We recommend leaving the case on during daily use, and only removing it when necessary to avoid wear.

All our leather is treated for water resistance, abrasion, and shape retention — no need for special maintenance during normal use. However, avoid soaking or directly rubbing the surface. If you’ve selected natural undyed vegetable-tanned leather, it will develop a rich patina over time with exposure to sunlight, touch, and oils. That’s part of the charm — each case becomes yours, uniquely.

Can I approve the layout before you begin carving?

Yes — especially for Full Max Custom orders. I’ll send you a digital mockup with text and/or artwork placement for your approval. Only after you’re happy with the design will I begin engraving. I want you to feel fully involved in the creative process.

Is the engraved design permanent? Will it wear off?

The engravings are done by hand using traditional leather carving tools — not printed or laser-etched. This means the design is physically cut into the leather surface and won’t peel, fade, or wear off like printed designs. In fact, as the leather ages, the engraving develops a deeper character.

Will the case affect wireless charging?

No — for compatible AirPods models, the case is designed to support wireless charging. The leather is shaped snugly around the device without obstructing charging coils. Just place it on your charger like normal.

How long does it take to make and ship my order?

Every case is made-to-order, and depending on the complexity, it takes 3–10 business days to complete. Full Max Custom designs may take a bit longer due to design approval. I’ll always keep you updated through Etsy messages, and once it’s shipped, you’ll receive tracking details.

Can I choose the leather and thread colors?

Yes, and I encourage it. I offer 9 leather dye options and over 10 thread colors. You can mix and match to fit your personal style — whether you want something classic like Jet Black with dark brown stitching, or bold like Mustard Yellow with red thread. Just mention your choice at checkout or message me.

What’s the difference between “Basic Custom” and “Full Max Custom”?

Basic Custom lets you add meaningful text — a name, date, or quote — within predefined areas. Full Max Custom unlocks the entire surface: you can send a drawing, a logo, initials, or even a photo, and I’ll engrave it across the entire case. For Full Max orders, I collaborate closely with you, send a detailed preview, and only begin carving once you’re fully satisfied with the layout.
