Begonia ‘Irene Nuss’ is a popular and handsome angel-wing / cane begonia hybrid known for its striking foliage and attractive flowers. It was created in California in 1971 by amateur hybridizer Irene Nuss from a cross of B. Kentwood × B. Lenore Olivier and has become a classic in the Superba/cane begonia group. 

🌿 Plant Description
• Type: Evergreen perennial cane begonia (also called angel wing begonia). 
• Stems & Habit: Upright, cane-like stems that can grow about 2–3 ft (60–90 cm) indoors (and potentially taller outdoors in frost-free gardens). 
• Leaves: Large asymmetrical bronze-green to dark green foliage, often with bronze or burgundy undersides. Leaves are often wavy or deeply lobed, giving a dramatic tropical look. 
• Flowers: Produces clusters of delicate pink flowers on hanging panicles. Blooming can be long and prolific in good light. 
• Foliage Appeal: The bold, wing-like leaves are the main ornamental feature, which is why plants like this are generically called angel wing begonias.

She arrived with a little shipping damage (which was not the seller’s fault!). She was packaged well, but begonias are naturally delicate and can be a bit dramatic during transit. She didn’t look her best when I first unpacked her, but after trimming the damaged leaves and giving her a good drink, she quickly perked up. Now she’s absolutely thriving! That really speaks to the quality of the plant they sent. It was so healthy and well established that it bounced back incredibly fast. I’m very happy with my purchase!
