This is a scaled down replica of the entrance stone at Newgrange, in Ireland. I sculpted the original model form clay, then I created a silicon mold.
The sculpture is cast in (GFRC) stone. This allows for the sculpture to be used in either an interior or exterior setting. Each casting is given a black/gray stone patina to mimic the original stone of the original carved sculpture. Hints of raw sienna a raw brown earth tone are used to accent the high parts of the carving. (Custom color options are available upon request) Each sculpture is hand painted, so a slight variation in color and pattern will vary from the displayed photos. The sculpture weighs approximately 6lb.-12oz, and measures approximately 12.75"wide x4"High x3"Deep.
As displayed in the photos historical information is inscribed on the back of the sculpture. Each sculpture is hand painted. The black coloring will vary within the lettering giving it an aged effect.
Inscribed message text:
Kerbstone 1: Newgrange Entrance Stone
The entrance stone at Newgrange (3,200 B.C.E.) is more than just a marker; it is a
mystical threshold, carved with intricate spirals and symbols that seem to pulse with
ancient energy. As the winter solstice sun filters through the sky, its light touches the stone, bringing it to life and linking the earth to the heavens. The stone holds the
secrets of the cosmos, acting as a gateway to both the sacred mound and a deeper
understanding of time and the universe.
Every symbol etched into its surface speaks of the eternal cycles of life—birth, death, and rebirth—inviting those who pass through to step into a realm where time bends and the past and present seem to converge. This stone, worn by centuries of wind and rain, is not just a physical boundary; it is a living, breathing reminder of the ancient magic that still pulses within Newgrange. It connects us to a forgotten world, where the forces of nature and the mysteries of the stars align, echoing through the ages.

Gorgeous piece!! It's very well made and substantial in weight, it looks and feels like an actual relic from the site. It's new home is on the bar top in our Irish pub room. I'm sure many visitors will ask about it and they can read about it on the back of the piece. Thank you!!

This is such a well made tribute to one of the most powerful human constructions on the planet. Somehow it seems even to have a spark of its own…
