A Victorian / Edwardian antique fashion nightgown / dress, dating to the 19th / early 20th century ( 1860s ??), in very good condition. White cotton, loose fitting, with pleated bib front trimmed with bands of floral embroidery. Hidden button and loop fastening, with another button at the stand collar. The pleats open to a loose fitting skirt, at the back the fabric is tightly gathered in to the yoke, finished with a decorative stitch. Extra long loose sleeves gather to a crescent shape, with fitted cuffs edged with embroidered trim. At the front, below the placket, an embroidered 'S' in a gothic font, together with '8', both in graphic red.
CONDITION
Very good - one tiny hole, some fine yellowish discoloration that hasn't shown very well in the images, most noticeable inside the neck, but mostly clean and fresh.
Approx measurements - shoulder 18 bust 42 length 52.5
