Material: black-lip mother-of-pearl, white triangular clam shell, red-mouth conch
This crane brooch is hand-carved and layered by our artisan using Tahitian black-lip mother-of-pearl and white triangular clam shell. The red crown on the crane’s head is carved from red-mouth conch. As with all handmade work, subtle tool marks are part of the process. Red-crowned cranes are seen in China and Japan as auspicious birds, symbolising good fortune, longevity, and blessings.
Natural shells are never “perfect”, their shape, colour, and grain form randomly over time, and no two shells are ever identical. That means every brooch is truly one of a kind. Shell lustre and iridescence can look quite different under different lighting, so please view both the photos and the video for reference.
###Care
Shell is beautiful but naturally brittle, so please avoid knocks, pressure, and drops. Because the crane’s legs are very delicate, please handle and wear this brooch with extra care. It’s not recommended for children to use or wear.
The piece is made with a layered construction, so try to keep it away from water. The pin back is silver-plated copper; when not in use, please store the brooch sealed in a dry place.
### Returns & Repairs
As a handmade item, we don’t accept returns for reasons unrelated to quality. If your parcel arrives damaged in transit, please contact us right away. For accidental damage during normal wear, we offer a one-year repair service (postage not included; turnaround is around 2 months). Please note that oxidation/tarnishing of metal parts is not covered.
