What are the vases made of?

Our 3D-printed vases are made from polylactide, commonly known as PLA or polylactic acid. It’s often referred to as a bio-plastic. PLA is derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugar cane through a fermentation process that produces lactic acid. While it’s not a naturally occurring material like wood, its plant-based origins make it a sustainable and biodegradable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics—under the right conditions.

Are the vases waterproof?

The vases themselves are not fully waterproof due to the nature of the 3D printing process, which creates tiny microscopic pores that can allow water to seep through. To make them practical for real use with fresh flowers, every vase comes with a free waterproof insert. This sleek cylindrical liner fits neatly inside the vase and can be easily filled with water. If you’re using the vase for dried flowers or as a decorative piece, you can take the insert out—but it’s a good idea to keep it stored safely for when you need it.

What temperatures are safe for the vases?

We recommend keeping the vases away from excessive heat. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight (especially near windows) or exposing them to temperatures above 40°C (104°F). At higher temperatures, the material can soften and risk losing its shape. We tested several vases during hot summer weeks and found that warping doesn’t always occur, but it can happen. To be safe, it’s best to keep them in moderate, stable temperatures.

How do I clean the vases?

Our vases are not suitable for the dishwasher or soaking in water. Simply wipe them gently with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. Dusting them off or using a handheld vacuum is perfectly fine. The waterproof insert, however, is dishwasher-safe and can be cleaned at temperatures up to 65°C.
