Highlights

  • Handpicked by JewelBeetleVintage
  • Vintage from the 1930s
  • Materials: Sterling Silver, Abalone Shell

Artisan crafted in Taxco between 1955 and 1965, mid century, the height of the Mexican Silver Renaissance, it carries the essence of the sea and the artisan craftsmanship of a talented silversmith..

The bracelets form flows with extraordinary grace. Elongated S-shaped links twist and unfurl like ribbon caught in slow tide, or rope gently loosened by time and saltwater. The negative space is as deliberate as the silver itself, creating a pattern that feels almost tidal in its movement. Within these flowing forms, exquisite abalone inlay shimmers like a living sea—opalescent flashes of green, blue, and violet shifting like light across a breaking wave.

And then there is the mermaid. Not literal, but unmistakably present in spirit—suggested in the fluidity, in the sea-born iridescence, in the sense that this bracelet belongs not to land, but to a shoreline memory. It feels as though it might have been worn once by someone who understood tides, who listened to the ocean as if it were language.

The clasp is a simple hook, honest and unembellished, entirely in keeping with its crafted origin. No flourish, no concealment—just function carried with quiet integrity.

It bears only a single makers mark: “g.” The artisan remains unknown, yet the hand is unmistakable—confident, intuitive, unburdened by excess. One can imagine the maker perhaps unconcerned with permanence, focused only on the flow of form, much like water itself.

A rare and beautiful Taxco creation—part silver, part sea-legend, and wholly unforgettable.

About Abalone:
Abalone is a sea snail prized in jewelry for its thick shell lined with iridescent nacre (mother-of-pearl), displaying vibrant blues, greens, purples, and pinks. Each piece is naturally unique, making every design one of a kind.
It’s popular for its beauty, durability, and versatility, often set in silver or gold for both casual and formal wear. Beyond aesthetics, abalone also carries cultural and symbolic meaning, often associated with the ocean, emotional balance, and spiritual connection.

About 940 Silver:
940 silver high-purity alloy, generally branded as Argentium 940, that contains 94% pure silver, germanium, and copper. It is designed to be superior to traditional 925 sterling silver, offering high tarnish resistance, hypoallergenic properties (no nickel), and a whiter, brighter appearance, making it popular for durable, high-quality jewelry.
