Seller's description

Specifications

May include: A black and white linocut print of two birds, one larger and one smaller, standing close together. The print is on a square, textured, off-white paper. The word "Plovers" is printed below the birds.

This handmade linocut print is inspired by the endangered piping plover (Charadrius melodus), a small shorebird native to the Great Lakes. I created this piece after spotting a group of plovers along the shoreline at Sleeping Bear Dunes—an unforgettable encounter with these quiet, resilient birds.

Once nearly lost from the region, the Great Lakes population has recovered from just 12 nesting pairs in the early 1990s to around 88 pairs today. While this progress is encouraging, ongoing conservation efforts remain critical to their continued survival.

A portion of every purchase supports the Great Lakes Piping Plover Conservation Team, helping fund habitat protection, monitoring, and chick-rearing programs. Your purchase directly contributes to the continued recovery of this remarkable species.
