Highlights
Early Ridgid No. 2 pipe cutter marked for 1/8 to 2 inch pipe, made by The Ridge Tool Co. in Elyria, Ohio. Cleaned, lightly serviced, and preserved with its original industrial character, this is a solid vintage plumbing tool that displays well and still has smooth screw travel.
Detailed description
Vintage Ridgid No. 2 pipe cutter marked 1/8 to 2 and The Ridge Tool Co., Elyria, O., U.S.A., Pat. Pend’g. This is an early Ridgid plumbing tool, best described as likely 1930s production, though the exact year is unconfirmed. Ridge Tool traces its founding to 1923, and the company notes pipe cutters were part of its expanding line by the late 1920s and early 1930s.
This example has been cleaned, oiled, and waxed while keeping the original aged finish intact. The feed screw travels smoothly end to end, and the markings remain crisp and easy to read. It shows normal cosmetic wear, scattered scratches, and an old scratched-in owner name on the body from prior use. I did not over-polish or repaint it, so it still looks like an honest vintage shop tool rather than a modern refinish.
Restoration performed included controlled cleaning, light lubrication of the screw and moving parts, and a wax topcoat for protection. Original patina was preserved. The tool is being sold as a vintage hand tool with good display appeal and collectible early Ridgid markings. A printed care sheet will be included with the tool.
Ideal for vintage tool collectors, plumbing tool displays, industrial decor, or a period-correct shop shelf. It will ship packed securely with the adjustment screw protected.
