🦕 Dinosaurs & Fossils — Discover the Incredible Creatures That Ruled the Earth (Ages 4–7) 🦖

Roar… T-Rex had the most powerful bite of any land animal that ever lived. Stegosaurus used its back plates as radiators, not armour. Velociraptor was the size of a turkey and covered in feathers. And the biggest reveal of all — birds are living dinosaurs.

The robin on your bird feeder is a direct descendant. This 30-page pack introduces five incredible dinosaurs and the science of fossils through hand-painted botanical watercolour, real palaeontology, and a fossil-making craft that compresses millions of years into minutes.

MEET THE DINOSAURS:
🦖 Tyrannosaurus Rex — six-tonne bite force, tiny arms that still lifted two hundred kilograms each, and you could outrun it on a bicycle
🦕 Triceratops — three horns each a metre long, a frill that may have changed colour, and T-Rex tooth marks found in those frills as proof they fought
🦕 Stegosaurus — back plates pumped with blood for temperature control, a brain the size of a walnut, and it lived eighty million years before T-Rex — they never met
🦕 Diplodocus — twenty-five metres long, neck held horizontally, tail that cracked like a whip, and stones swallowed to grind food
🦖 Velociraptor — turkey-sized with feathers, a sickle claw kept raised to stay sharp, and the direct ancestor of every bird alive today
🪨 Fossils & Palaeontology — how we know what we know: body fossils, trace fossils, amber, geological layers, and Mary Anning who discovered an ichthyosaur at age twelve

✏️ WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL DO
✏️ Discover four fun facts about each of the five dinosaurs and the science of fossils
✏️ Follow the four-stage fossil formation process — die, bury, mineralise, discover
✏️ Sort dinosaurs by diet using dental evidence — sharp serrated teeth mean meat-eater, flat grinding teeth mean plant-eater, and Oviraptor is the tricky omnivore
✏️ Press a real shell into clay, remove it, and see the impression — the same process that creates trace fossils
✏️ Stand next to dinosaurs drawn to scale — Compsognathus at shin height, T-Rex towering overhead, Diplodocus so big its head runs off the page
✏️ Solve four dinosaur detective mysteries using tooth shape, footprint, and diet evidence
✏️ Study footprint patterns — bipedal versus quadrupedal gait, walking versus running, herd tracking
✏️ Complete fossil layer patterns following geological time and increasing complexity
✏️ Play with six dinosaur stat cards comparing bite force, length, brain size, and speed
✏️ Design a dinosaur with biological reasoning — sharp teeth means meat-eater, plates mean thermoregulation, then name it with real Latin roots
✏️ Search the dig site for hidden objects, count, trace words, read a short passage, and write
✏️ Cut out eight pieces and build a geological cliff-face dig site scene
✏️ Journal about knowing birds are living dinosaurs
✏️ Take the Fossil Hunter Safari to everyday locations — fossils in walls, gravel paths, pebble beaches, and building stones
✏️ Finish with a Dinosaur Explorer certificate

🌿 The Stegosaurus-never-met-T-Rex fact — eighty million years apart, and you are closer in time to T-Rex than Stegosaurus was

This resource was disappointing, some information clearly had not been checked and was incorrect, making me believe that this was quickly ai generated and spat out. Most of the worksheets didn’t seem to actually work or make sense, and one page says it’s to scale and it’s clearly not.

Response from Alistair Jameson

Hi Zoe, Thank you for flagging this, Zoe, and I'm sorry the pack fell short. I messaged you as soon as the review came in, corrected both issues you pointed out (the Stegosaurus timeline fact and the scale page), and the updated files are now live on the listing, along with a full refund. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me what was wrong. Alistair | Lex & Fox Press
