I am pleased to offer this elegant and scholarly edition of The Book of Psalms, printed as verse from the majestic Authorized King James Version of 1611. Produced in New York well over half a century ago, this volume features the 1611 version of The Book of Psalms. I have always found this particular printing especially moving, restoring the rhythmic beauty and lyrical cadence intended in the original translation commissioned by King James I. Angelo's delicate borders and ornamental designs grace the pages with a quiet reverence, their fine lines preserved to perfection on the custom-made paper created specially for this edition by the Crocker-Burbank Company of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The surface is extra smooth, allowing every detail of the typography and artwork to shine with remarkable clarity.The binding is equally impressive. Valenti Angelo himself designed a rich, opulent Oriental motif that adorns the cover—stamped in blind on both front and back boards, with genuine gold lettering and decoration on the spine. The book is bound in a remarkably durable leather made by the Russell-Rutter Company using a distinctive process: leather offcuts are fed through a hopper with various strengthening ingredients, producing a material that is exceptionally tough and built to outlast ordinary leather bindings.

The Book of Psalms is a collection of ancient Hebrew poems, songs, and prayers that is one of the most important books in the Bible. Written over roughly 1,000 years (mostly between 1000 BC and 400 BC), these works are traditionally attributed to several authors, with King David believed to have written about half of them. Other contributors include Asaph, the sons of Korah, Solomon, and Moses. Unlike most books of the Bible, the Psalms are not a single story or teaching.
