Why don't you honor photo requests?

Photo requests, historically, have imposed a significant labor cost without leading to sales. We sell on multiple channels and have been honored with rapid growth in a very short period of time. Partially thanks to the success of social media marketing. However, as our monthly visitor traffic across channels approaches 100,000k per month, we have suffered an increase in people engaged in our content that are not actually rare plant enthusiasts and do not possess a genuine intent to buy when making inquiries. Raising labor costs. New Management chose to have a policy not to allow an increase in costs, and maintain competitive pricing.

Will you help me troubleshoot with my plant?

If you purchased it from us? Of course! We have had to start setting limitations on grow support for purchases made elsewhere. Unfortunately, there were a significant amount of people reaching out for help from extremely poor quality of plants flooding the market due to the trend of certain apps that auction recent imports and other struggling products with no quality control or acceptable greviences processes. (You should know what app we are referring to and that we will never sell or participate there). This meant our would-be customers were giving their money to our competitors, but receiving merchandise in such poor condition they didn't know how to even get it to survive. With no refunds. So they came to us for free help. 🤕

What do I do with my bottom cut?

Simple! Keep it in the substrate and humidity dome provided for shipping until it sprouts new foliage. For best results: #1. Check it's moisture a couple times per week, careful that it stays moist but never wet. #2. Offer a supplemental grow light. Pro-tip, most big box hardware stores offer grow lights with regular bulb bases that can screw into most everyday lights for lamps you already own including kitchen and bathroom fixtures. #3. Keep above 65 degrees or it can go into dormancy and fail to grow. Lower than 55 degrees and it is possible to perish. #4. Fertilizer is not necessary. The substrate is nutrient rich. #5. When new foliage sprouts, acclimate slowly each day to the humidity of your grow conditions.

How does Variegation work?

Short answer: genetics. Long answer: the amount of misinformation spread by unethical or uneducated sources on this topic is a serious issue in the rare plant sector. Even very, very well known and successful large names in the plant industry are knowingly making dishonest statements about variegation to boost sales. Additionally, there are chemical and even viral ways that variegation can be altered in a plant. Almost always creating only temporary results, and of course harming the health of the plant. Google "pink Congo hoax" for a popular example of Global fraud using chemicals to fool people into thinking there was such a plant by creating the...temporary...effect of some pink leaves which do not replicate in future new growth.

How can I create variegation?

Short answer: you don't. Long answer: unless you are ready to play mad scientist with gases and other dangerous chemicals? You can only give your plant the best chance at presenting the highest variegation its...genetic...potential has to offer you. #1. The magical level of "bright light". That term "bright light" is so vague, it is nearly useless. There is a sweet spot between light intense enough to burn leaves such as direct sunlight, or intense grow lights, vs not enough to bring out the best. Experiment on lower cost plants. #3 Why does light make any difference? Lower light conditions create the necessity for plants to produce additional chlorophyll for photosynthesis because it is a primary component of that process.

Why are rare Aroid plants so expensive?

#1. Almost all very rare Aroid plants are originally imported, then propogated, sometimes over many years. Importing (quality plants) comes with enormous financial risk, labor cost, and hassle. Sometimes failing altogether. #2. Time cost. Certain very rare plants, are bred selectively to produce the unique features we enjoy. Anthurium, for example, are extremely slow growing as seedlings. Artificial pollination to produce specific traits is also difficult, and requires specialized skill. This generates a high cost with their production. #4. Rare plants are luxury items. As such they are highly susceptible to trends in the market. Even when a plant is not expensive to produce, wholesalers will increase the price to match demand.

What are the TC Myths and Truths?

Short answer: you already rely heavily on tissue culture plants. Food; (bananas, strawberries, blueberries, rice, wheat), medicinal extracts (like berberine, polyphenols), cosmetic ingredients, for higher yields and disease resistance, providing mass-produced, uniform, and often virus-free plants The rare plant industry has used TC for years in mass producing your ornamentals and you just didn't know it! Monstera, Philodendron, and definitely your Alocasias. In fact, most of your Nursery-stocked Alocasia plants began as TC. While tissue culture plants are nothing new; storage, propogation, and acclimation of new cultures requires appropriate skill and conditions. Buy from a reputable Seller with good practices.

Why should I purchase a plant with no leaves?

There are many benefits to purchasing bottom cuts. #1. Cost savings is the most obvious. #2. The hassle and worry of trying to save shipping-stressed foliage you paid full price for can really steal your joy. #3. Growing your own foliage means new leaves unfurl in your grow space, acclimated to your unique grow conditions with regards to lighting and humidity.

Can I see financial records for your inventory?

Absolutely not. There are only three reasons for someone to ask for this information. None of which are valid. #1. Anthurium Pollinator that wants to charge a premium for the production of a pure line. You should not be purchasing your stock second hand. Especially not bottom cuts. You should be purchasing direct from the Pollinators you are interested in working with. We are not going to assist people with providing a paper trail to make it seem like they purchased direct from a pollinator with notariety when they did not. We have significantly reduced prices on our Anthurium compared to what the direct sources charge so that the average person can afford a special plant. Not so that other businesses can profit.
