Ammi Phillips – Printable Wall Art, Portrait Painter, Americana Decor, Digital Download

Portrait painter and American folk art master Ammi Phillips captured the soul of early America one face at a time — and this printable wall art collection brings his extraordinary primitive art straight to your walls. Born in Colebrook, Connecticut in 1788, Phillips spent five decades as an itinerant portrait painter, traveling through Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York's Hudson Valley painting judges, doctors, families, and children with a bold directness that still stops you in your tracks. His most famous work — Girl in Red Dress with Cat and Dog — sold for one million dollars in 1985, a first for folk art, and was called "one of the most beautiful paintings made by any American artist ever" by The New York Times. With over 800 paintings attributed to him, Phillips was exhibited alongside Mark Rothko at the American Folk Art Museum, and his classical art prints hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the National Gallery of Art, Princeton, and Yale. His portrait paintings are the definition of American art — honest, striking, and timeless.
