19th Century Wooden Needle Case Holder: Antique Sewing Tool

A 19th-century needle case, most likely dating to the late 1800s

This is made of sycamore and on the lid, has the words "Made of wood which grew on the banks of ...". The rest is unclear, but is usually says "the River Doon", which is in Scotland. It would have been a compact needlework item for personal use or travel and is made from beautifully patinated sycamore, which could be mauchlineware
