Highlights

An Inlet bridge photo is what I wanted. Captured at midnight from the water’s edge, this is the Fire Island Inlet Bridge glowing against a deep orange night sky. To get this straight-on view with perfect symmetry and those silky reflections, I had to wade into the dark water with my tripod and camera.
It was honestly terrifying stepping into the black water alone at night — you can’t see what’s under the surface, and every little splash makes your heart race. The current kept pushing me around, making it nearly impossible to hold steady for a long exposure. I almost gave up, thinking I’d never get the shot I imagined.
But I kept going. I dug the tripod legs deep into the sea floor, braced everything, and waited. Thirty seconds feels like an eternity when you’re standing in the water by yourself in the dark. Finally, everything lined up — the lights, the reflections, the stillness I needed.
I’m really proud I pushed through the fear and doubt to capture this moment. It turned out even better than I hoped.
