Antique Nanduti Lace Collar, Needleweaving Lace

This early 20th century Nanduti lace collar is a Paraguayan term for "web". Like a web, Nandutii lace is made by weaving patterns with a needle and thread over and under a set of threads radiating from a center point. Nanduiti always includes palm-leaf shapes, and distinctive background filling of little florets sometimes called a jojoba stitch and along with skillfully done wheels, and are very sophisticated and high quality.

In excellent condition, no breaks in threads, few storage oxidation spot, no repairs and the threads are strong and skillfully done. Has not been laundered, In antique condition.

MEASUREMENT: Top to bottom 13", 12-3/4" across top, across bottom 6" and 5" deep at off center.
