The item is gorgeous. I can fit a maximum of six 100 unit syringes with sterile wrapping removed. 4 Curad alcohol wipes can fit in the slot between the vials and syringes. The container cover will not allow for syringes to jut out. I could add one more syringe if the container cover had more depth. I believe it is constructed to prevent the drawer and syringes from sliding out and rattling around.

Yes, you pointed out an important feature of the container; the lid design is intentional to keep the sliding tray and syringes securely in place so there is no ability for them to shift around.
