This authentic vintage Chinese Mahjong set was handcrafted from bamboo and bone, likely dating from the mid-century period.
Unlike modern plastic Mahjong sets, bamboo and Ox bone tiles have a rich natural texture, smooth hand-feel, and aged patina that simply cannot be replicated. Each tile features traditional bamboo backing and a carved bone face, creating the distinctive weight, sound, and tactile experience that collectors love.
What makes this particular set especially unusual is its rare collection of Ox bonus tiles. Rather than the more commonly encountered Flower and Season combinations, this set features a unique group of decorative bonus tiles including a Cat tile and Mouse tile, motifs that are rarely encountered in vintage Mahjong sets and add significant character and collectability.
The original case has been lost over time, so this set now comes with a vintage-style wooden chest for storage and display.
Once sold, this exact set will never be available again.
