An exceptional piece of 19th-century travel history, this Victorian camel back (or humpback) steamer trunk dates to the late 1800s. It features a distinctive curved lid designed to ensure it was always placed at the top of a cargo pile, preventing other luggage from being stacked on it.
The exterior is clad in original dark-patina metal with beautiful floral and geometric cast-iron hardware. High-relief decorative slat clamps secure the hardwood vertical ribs, giving it a rugged yet sophisticated industrial aesthetic. The trunk retains its original leather side handles and heavy-duty locking mechanism.
Inside, the natural wood planks are clean and offer ample storage space, making this an ideal statement piece for use as a blanket chest, toy box, or a unique rustic coffee table.
