This is a fanciful fox mask done in the Venetian style. However, unlike a true Venetian mask (which is made of lightweight leather that is embellished with plaster & precious metal leaf & is VERY delicate), this mask is made with my own unique technique involving heavy-weight leather that is deeply hand carved. This achieves the ~look~ of a Venetian mask but is durable enough to wear anywhere, indoors or out. Even safe to travel with (the perfect mask to tuck in your suitcase on your next trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras!)

The leather is carved, shaped, hardened with heat, then painted with colorfast Liquitex acrylics.

*The RED version is red, bright white, black, and gold. With gold leaf swirls.

*The IVORY version is creamy ivory white, bright white, black, and gold, with gold leaf swirls.

The mask is sealed with a waterproof clear coat, for durability. It is lined with synthetic felt for comfort. The fox will come with a sturdy round cord with sliding black plastic cord clasp, for secure, adjustable wearing.

This is a signed, dated original.

I shape my masks to fit generically...they fit most adult faces. The mask rests snugly across the forehead, when tied to the face, and rests on the bridge of the nose and cheekbones. In this way, they fit almost anyone. I do not need face measurements from you, and wearers with wider or narrower faces can flex the masks enough to accommodate them easily.

The masks are surface-sealed, so don't use any oils or leather creams because they'll just make it greasy and gummed-up. If it gets dusty or dirty, wiping with a damp cloth is fine. The outside is waterproof but the inside is not sealed and only water-resistant. Felt has been added to the interior pressure points for added comfort.

If your mask gets REALLY soaked somehow (like in a heavy rain or dropped in water) just set the mask propped someplace where it can dry in peace and it will be fine. Don't worry about drying/cracking; I use only the highest quality vegetable tanned leathers. No alcohol has been used in the tanning process so this kind of leather maintains its flexibility for decades.

My masks arrive in new boxes, individually wrapped in plastic bags and padded with tissue paper and any additional packaging that might be needed to assure that there will be no damage during transport. Gift wrapping (bright tissue paper, seals, and any message you might wish to include) is available upon request.
