INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS AND IMPORT TAXES

I aim for you never to have to deal with customs: wherever possible, taxes and import duties are calculated and paid at checkout, so there are no surprises on delivery. Rules differ per country and can change, though, so I can't guarantee that no extra charges will apply when your package arrives. If your country charges import fees on delivery, these are the buyer's responsibility and outside my control. Customs checks can also delay a delivery. Questions about your order? Send me a message and I'll help where I can.

HOW SUSTAINABLE ARE YOU?

Sustainability is a core value at Abstract Threads. We work with multiple production partners depending on the product — but sustainability is always a condition. We work with the following brands: • Stanley/Stella — organic cotton, ethically produced • Kariban & Native Spirit (via TPop) — sustainable collections, responsible production • Gildan — for a more accessible price point Our Stanley/Stella products are certified: ✔ Fair Wear — fair treatment throughout the production chain ✔ Oeko-Tex — safe inks and materials ✔ GOTS — certified sustainable supply chain ✔ PETA — 100% vegan certified Not sure about a specific product? Send me a message and I'll tell you exactly which brand and producer it comes from.

HOW DO THE SIZES FIT?

Sizing varies per product and brand. Every listing includes a size chart — always check it before ordering. Still unsure? Send me a message with your measurements and I'll advise you. As a general rule: Stanley/Stella runs slightly slim. If you're between sizes, size up.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN AND EXCHANGE POLICY?

Arrived damaged or incorrect? Send me a message with a photo and I'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice. Wrong size? Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery, unworn and in original condition. Return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility. Please message me before sending anything back. Custom or personalised products cannot be returned unless there's an error on our end.

SHIPPING — DELIVERY TIMES AND RETURNED PACKAGES

Processing time is 2–4 days. After that: • Europe: 5–7 working days • Rest of the world: 7–14 working days Once your package ships, you'll receive a tracking number automatically. If a package is returned to sender for any reason, the cost of reshipping is the buyer's responsibility. Get in touch and we'll sort it out together.

ARE YOUR DESIGNS EXCLUSIVE OR LIMITED EDITION?

Many designs are offered in limited runs — this is noted in the listing. If a design sells out, it typically won't return in exactly the same form, since every design is algorithmically generated and deliberately curated. Risograph prints are always limited edition due to the handmade printing process.

WHAT ARE RISOGRAPH PRINTS AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Risography is an analogue stencil printing process — similar to screen printing, but with its own character. Each colour is printed separately, creating slight misregistration and a layered, tactile result you won't find in any digital print. What you receive: • Size as listed (A3, A4, A5 or A6) • Prints are shipped flat in a sturdy cardboard envelope • No frame included • Slight colour variations are normal and part of the process

Custom and personalized orders

Every design starts as code — generated in Processing. That means colour, pattern, and composition can be adjusted. Have a specific idea or want something tailored to your style? Send me a message and we'll figure it out. Several products in the shop already exist because a customer came to me with an idea.

• Machine wash cold (max. 30°C / 90°F), inside out, gentle cycle • Mild detergent, no fabric softener • Chlorine-free bleach only if necessary • Hang to dry for longest lifespan • Iron inside out if needed — do not iron the print, do not steam

WHAT PRINTING TECHNIQUE DO YOU USE?

Clothing is printed using DTG (direct-to-garment) — a professional process where ink is pressed directly into the fabric fibres and heat-set. The result is a soft, matte finish close to screen printing, without the thick rubbery feel of vinyl. For risograph prints, we use a Riso printer: an analogue stencil process with layered inks and a warmth you won't find in any digital print. Slight colour variations compared to your screen are normal. Not happy? Just message me.

Response from Machiel Veltkamp

Much appreciated, Martine! It’s great to hear Tree Rings found a good home. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review, and for picking up all three prints from the shop.

Seller's description

Specifications

Hand holding the A5 riso print outdoors against green leaves, concentric tree rings in pink and yellow

A tree's memory, drawn by algorithm.

Concentric rings spiral inward — each one slightly different, like growth rings on a cross-section. Pink and yellow inks layer into orange where the rings overlap, building heat toward the centre.

The result is hypnotic. Ancient and digital at once. A form you've seen in nature, made new.

Printed on 250g Biotop paper in A5 format (14.8 × 21 cm). The circle floats in white space — quiet, centred, complete.

WHY RISOGRAPHY?

Risographic printing is intentional. It's slow. Each colour is applied separately using a 40-year-old technique originally designed for community newsletters. Two inks, two passes, slight misregistration every time.

That imprecision is the point. It's what gives risograph prints their warmth — and what makes each one subtly different from the last.

THE DETAILS:

✔ Generatively designed using creative coding (Processing)

✔ Soy-based inks — sustainable, colour-true
