📌 How can I make a corset tighter under the bust and at the waist if the cup size is right?
If you bought my corset pattern and the cup size fits you well, but the underbust and waist feel too loose, here are some easy tips for beginners:
1. Adjust the side seams: The simplest way is to sew the side seams a bit deeper. Pin or baste the sides to see how much fabric you want to take in, then sew along the new line. This makes the underbust and waist smaller without changing the cups.
2. Add darts: You can add small darts (triangle-shaped folds) under the cups or at the waist area. Mark where the fabric is too loose, pin the darts, try it on, and then sew them.
3. Tighten the back lacing: If your corset has lacing, you can simply tighten it more at the waist and underbust. If you want more lacing, you can add extra eyelets.
4. Use a waist tape: If your pattern includes a waist tape, make sure to pull it tight when sewing. This helps hold the waist snug.
Tip: Always test your changes on a mock-up (toile) first! This way you can adjust without ruining your final fabric.
